On Friday, June 13, R. Kelly was found not-guilty of all 14 counts of child pornography.
You didn’t see that one coming, did you?
Much like O.J. Simpson and Robert Blake, no one is going to think Kelly is innocent.
First, many on the jury said they believe Kelly was on the sex tape, which was the heart of the court case. The jury just wasn’t sure of the identities of the females.
The tape still showed oral sex and the male – presumably Kelly – urinating on a female, which was thought to be Kelly’s teenaged goddaughter.
He is not guilty, so forget all that.
Second, what people are going to remember about Kelly is not his Grammys or his music. Ten years from now, if you ask someone, “Do you remember R. Kelly?” they will reply, “Oh, yeah, the rapper who peed on a young girl.” He is not guilty, but he will be remembered for this and nothing else.
Finally, Kelly is not going to be making any lists of good role models. No one is going to mention his name along with Mother Teresa, Gandhi, Martin Luther King Jr., and, of course, Miley Cyrus.
Would you leave your young daughter alone with Kelly? No, no one in their right mind would, so expect someone with the last name Spears, Lohan or Cyrus to be doing just that in the near future.
The results of this case continues to show that the rich and famous have a different legal system than the rest of us. The Average Joe would not have been able to delay the trial for years, claim there was a conspiracy against him or the case was just a way to make headlines. Money also buys much better lawyers. The dude on the back of the phonebook is not who you want representing you, ever.
Do you think Kelly will mention this case when accepting the Nobel Peace Prize? Naw.
