Remember when “Attack of the Show” was “The Screen Savers,” and they actually had people on the show who knew what they were talking about?
The show had substance and value. What does it have now? Boobs. More specifically, it has Olivia Munn’s boobs.
Olivia obviously was not hired for her vast knowledge of computers, gaming or the technology culture. Every outfit they have her in show off why they hired her by pushing and lifting them as high as they legally can.
Now, Olivia is having her co-host do the same. Kevin Pereira, whose knowledge of technology ends with hair gel, did the pushing and lifting of Olivia’s boobs on the show.
Somewhere Leo Laporte is weeping quietly into his keyboard.
When G4 bought TechTV, anyone could have guessed what the new focus of the network was going to be when everyone but Morgan Webb and Adam Sessler were fired.
They kept Morgan for the same reason they hired Olivia, but Morgan has tech cred – and boobs. Why Sessler? No clue.
Now, G4 is a great network, but it’s not TechTV. G4 has helped redefine what TV entertainment can be with shows like “Ninja Warrior,” “Unbeatable Banzuke,” “Code Monkeys” and “Hurl!”
But where is a techie to go for news and information about computers, technology and gadgets that have nothing to do with gaming? The internet.
Online is where the true geeks went, to show like “Tekzilla” (Patrick Norton, Veronica Belmont, Roger Chang), “DL.TV” (Robert Heron), “Cranky Geeks” (John C. Dvorak, Sebastian Rupley), “Diggnation” (Kevin Rose, Alex Albrecht) and “Geek Brief” (Cali Lewis).
There is also CNET TV but for how long? CBS just bought CNET. We’ll see what the new focus will be here if they fire everyone but Molly Wood and get her teeth fixed.
They’ve already got Katie Couric on the CNET for the Republican National Convention.
Tekzilla is also associated with CNET, so everyone hang on to your hats.
Just how much room does Leo have out on the farm anyway?
